Shares of Jio Platforms, the digital arm of Reliance Industries, are set to make their stock market debut on Wednesday, listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange after one of the largest and most heavily subscribed public issues in Indian market history. Trading is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. following a special pre-open session between 9 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., when the opening price will be discovered.
The Rs 30,213-crore initial public offering was priced at Rs 1,119 per share, the upper end of its Rs 1,065–Rs 1,119 band, with a lot size of 12 shares and a minimum investment of Rs 13,428. Bidding was open from October 21 to 23, and the issue was subscribed 22.19 times overall. Qualified institutional buyers led demand, subscribing 70.55 times their portion, followed by non-institutional investors at 14 times, Reliance Industries shareholders at 7.6 times, employees at 2.93 times and retail investors at 2.72 times. The issue drew 1.39 crore applications, a record for an Indian public issue, and total demand across the public issue and the anchor placement crossed Rs 7.4 lakh crore, according to The Hindu BusinessLine.
The issue was entirely a fresh issuance of 27 crore shares, with no offer-for-sale component. Of the proceeds, Rs 27,500 crore will be used to repay certain outstanding borrowings of the company's material subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm, with the remainder earmarked for general corporate purposes. The basis of allotment was finalised on October 26, shares were credited to successful applicants' demat accounts on October 27, and refunds for others were processed the same day.
The listing gives investors direct exposure to Reliance's digital business, which spans telecom services, digital platforms and, increasingly, artificial intelligence and cloud services. Managing Director Akash Ambani has said the company is betting on AI and cloud to drive growth beyond telecommunications. Jio Platforms reported revenue of Rs 1,46,885 crore and net profit of Rs 30,049 crore in the financial year ended March 2026, with revenue of Rs 39,172 crore in the April–June quarter of the current financial year.
Market watchers will be tracking the opening price, trading volumes and early price movements closely. Unofficial grey-market indicators pointed to a premium of about 22 per cent over the issue price ahead of the debut, though such indicators do not guarantee the actual listing price. The company's board is scheduled to meet on October 30 to consider its financial results for the quarter and half-year ended September 30, which will give investors their first listed-company earnings update within days of the debut.
The debut caps a landmark year for India's primary market and marks a significant milestone in Reliance's strategy of unlocking value from its digital ecosystem, separating the fast-growing platform business from the conglomerate's consolidated structure. For the broader market, the listing of one of India's largest digital companies is being watched as a test of investor appetite for large, high-profile issues at a time of volatile global markets.
